Celebrating My Sobriety | Allan Kehler

Celebrating my sobriety birthday is as equally important as celebrating the day I was born. Sobriety gave me another chance to live.

This morning, I sat and reflected on 5 of the lessons I have learned.

1. The goal of sobriety isn’t to stop drinking. The goal is to love yourself so much that you don’t want to drink.

2. Surround yourself with people who have a roadmap for where you want to go.

3. Escaping pain will never solve your problems.

4. Feelings won’t kill you. (That was a pleasant surprise!)

5. Life is hard, but life is beautiful.

Thank you to each and every one of you for always cheering me on. And, most importantly, a big shout out to my wife, Tanya, who believed in me at a time when I failed to believe in myself.

Hope is real. Healing is possible.

“What’s stronger than a broken man who has the courage to rebuild himself? It’s time to redefine what it means to be strong.”
