Well, that’s a wrap! For 15 years, flyer delivery was part of our family life. Four different kids took turns walking routes with my wife, Tanya, and me. Through snowstorms, -50 degree weather, pouring rain, and heat exhaustion, we got the job done.
What started as a simple way for the kids to earn extra money became so much more. Two of my favourite memories are when our son wore his Power Rangers costume on a route just because he felt like it, and when the kids delivered the flyer featuring my story.
Those routes taught our kids responsibility, resilience, and the value of hard work. More importantly, they gave us uninterrupted time together in a world that moves way too fast.
If you ever have the chance to deliver flyers with someone you care about, I hope you take the opportunity. The work eventually ends, but the memories stay with you forever.
