Men and Mental Health | Allan Kehler

If you don’t put a voice to your pain,
who will suffer more than anyone else?

I used to swear I was the only one fighting my particular challenges.

Yet as soon as I took a risk and allowed myself to be vulnerable, I realized others had similar experiences.

I was no longer alone.

It is mental health awareness week, and tomorrow evening I am sitting on a panel of men who are proud to put a face and voice to this prevalent issue.

How the tides have turned.

Collectively, we have gone from men in isolation to men who found their voices and proudly unite.

No more shame.

In the same way, I have seen countless people take a risk and share their own challenges.

And what happened?

That courageous action allowed others to come out from the shadows.

They felt validated and free.

I am reminded that nothing is more powerful than your voice.

That is what Break The Barrier is all about.

Keep talking my friends.

“What’s stronger than a broken man who has the courage to rebuild himself? It’s time to redefine what it means to be strong.”
