Soaring Like An Eagle | Allan Kehler

Almost five years ago to the day, I was scheduled to speak at an event in Northern Saskatchewan.

That morning, I went for a walk and felt an undeniable feeling. Out of nowhere, it became clear that I was supposed to leave Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies (SIIT) so that I could put all of my time and energy into speaking.

I sent out a prayer, and when I got back to the lodge where I was staying, I saw an eagle soaring high above.

I cried, and knew what I needed to do.

I called my wife, Tanya, and she offered her full support. Now that’s trust. She was at home raising our four kids, and it’s scary to leave a guaranteed teachers income, a pension, and stability to pursue a passion.

Fast forward to a few months ago, and I bumped into Justin Lasnier in the Toronto airport. We spoke briefly about sharing my message with the staff at SIIT.

Today, that conversation transpired into reality. Rather than sitting in the chair during the PD day like I had for 8 years, I was now at the front of the room.

After the keynote, Justin presented me with a beautiful eagle feather. He never knew the backstory, but that was a full circle moment.

Isn’t it interesting that our greatest risks often transpire into our greatest rewards?

My hope is that you act on your passion and dream BIG.
