Safety Starts with Self-Awareness | Allan Kehler

This morning, I had a meeting with a company whose worker made a decision that deserves recognition.

I learned about a young man who voluntarily handed over his firearm because he did not feel safe carrying it in his current state of mind. That act took courage, self-awareness, and a deep sense of responsibility.

Safety isn’t just about following procedures. Safety is also about knowing your limits and speaking up when something isn’t right. Too often, people feel pressure to push through difficult moments in silence. However, real strength is recognizing when you need support and taking action before a situation becomes a risk to yourself or others.

When employees know they can come forward without fear of judgment, safer decisions are made.

I have the utmost respect for this worker who chose to put safety first.

“What’s stronger than a broken man who has the courage to rebuild himself? It’s time to redefine what it means to be strong.”
